Microsoft Office 365 is a suite of cloud-based productivity and collaboration applications that integrates all Microsoft’s existing online applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, Sway, and Access) into a cloud service, adding Skype for Business and Microsoft Teams as the main communication and collaboration applications. Enterprises of all sizes are finding Office 365 collaboration to be increasingly popular due to its ability to drive productivity, ROI and corporate success.

Given its presence in the cloud every company looking to utilise Office 365 is opening themselves up to a whole new set of attack vectors. Being ready and prepared is essential to securing your companies most critical assets – its data & its users.

Whilst the report is focused on Cyber Essentials the data returned is also linked to the CIA Principles, often referred to as the CIA Triad. CIA stands for Confidentiality, Integrity & Availability. These 3 principles underpin any kind of secure system.

Therefore this report offers an extremely useful insight into your Office 365 security level!

Confidentiality is the act of keeping data secure & only allowing authorised users access to it. Cryptography & Encryption typically form the backbone of confidentiality of data in transit.

Integrity of data is the assurance that data has not changed from the original at any point during transport or processing. Interception of data in transit is one such example of data integrity being impacted.

Availability of data is the assurance that business critical information is made accessible to permitted users at all times. Loss of availability can seriously impact a businesses ability to deliver services which in turn will have financial implications. Denial of Service attacks typically impact availability of data.

How It Works

To be able to pull data from Azure Microsoft Office 365 instances Titan needs you to create an Application inside your Azure portal(s).

IMPORTANT SECURITY NOTE: This App is given READ ONLY access to the underlying data used to populate this report. The App has been configured using the rule of minimum permissions. ONLY accessing required data sources, no amending of data and no additional/superfluous information is accessed or exported.

The App is called by our code (written in C# and available on GitHub) running on our secure servers using API calls.

The data is returned to our server using SSL (encrypted) communications to prevent any loss of Integrity of the data in transit.

The data is then processed and your report is delivered directly into your inbox as an PDF.
